Pizza Moon

Overview

The goal for this task was to create a brand for a pizzeria, including their tone of voice, wordmark, logo, and physical/digital touchpoints.

Process

1. Tone of voice

First, I came up with the story behind this company including their tone of voice and values. This would set the foundation for this project and allow me to create a brand around it that best represented them. The tone of voice for this brand is eco-friendly, passionate, quality and ethical.

2. Logo

Now that I had the story behind the company, I could create a logo which reflected the company and their values. After playing about with colour, stoke width and shape sizes, I filtered through my favourite ideas before deciding on the final one.

This was most effective as it could be used as shorthand for the company name “Pizza Moon”. It is simple but the contrasting colours make it stand out.

3. Wordmark

The typeface “purple purse” is friendly and easy to read. The colours and the moon replacing the letter “O” provide consistency throughout the brand. The name “Pizza Moon” comes from the company’s passion about helping our planet because we associate the moon with our planet.

4. Digital Touchpoint

I decided to design 2 screens of an app concept for this brand as it would be beneficial for them to have. It has a simple, easy to use interface and uses the brand colours to keep the consistency of the brand. I think this would attract more customers as they could order their services online.

4. Challenges

I was presented with an oppertunity to build a brand from scratch. However, this caused me to struggle with coming up with an initial idea as there was so many routes I could take. Once I finalised the story behind the brand, this set me on track to build a brand around it based on their tone of voice. However, I still struggled to visualise this.
Overcoming this mental block took a lot of trial and error when sketching logos and choosing a wordmark. Once I did this, I became much more confident in the direction the brand was going in and it was much easier to think of ideas.

Final Outcome

The final project shows the brand story, a digital touchpoint and a physical touchpoint. I really enjoyed this project as it taught me so much about the different aspects of a brand and the process behind creating one.
