This project involved creating an infographic using the topic of the world around us. I decided to focus on the environment and how we are causing harm to marine life as it is something I am passionate about.
I carried out lots of research to gather facts and statistics for my infographic. This gave me a better idea of how to layout my graphic and what information to include.
I wanted to include a lot of information on my inforgraphic. This made it essencial for me to plan and sketch where everything would go to ensure it was easy to follow and included all the neccessary information while still having space for some illustrations.
I decided to go for an illustrative approach as these could provide anchors to guide users through the graphic. I created a range of these to keep the user engaged. It also made it more visually appealing and eye-catching.
One of the hardest things about this task was getting the layout right. At first, everything seemed crammed together and very busy, making it hard to follow. To fix this, I expanded the graphic and put statistics inside pie charts, giving the information more breathing space.
I also struggled with making the right information stand out. After getting some feedback, I improved this by changing the size of the titles and using colour to make important information stand out.
This was my first attempt at making an inforgraphic and I am very happy with the outcome. I really enjoyed displaying important information in a way that is easy and enjoyable to read. It gives out an important message in an engaging way.
